where old houses begin again.
I restore and reimagine historic homes with reverence for what’s already there—honest materials, considered craft, and design that honors place, story, and the people who will live there next.

1912 Craftsman Bathroom
I took a failing late-twentieth-century remodel and rebuilt it as a room that feels as though it had always belonged to the house. I sourced antique fixtures and a clawfoot tub, used quarter-sawn white oak and restrained tilework, and chose historically fluent details without turning the room into a period-theme exercise.

My Approach
built on principle · guided by care
Listen
Every place has a story. I begin by listening—to the house, to you, to the materials, and to what the room is asking to become.
Respect
I honor what is already there: material history, patina, craft, structure, and the marks of lives already lived.
Design
I use historical fluency to expand the field of possibility. My goal is not imitation, but belonging.
Build
I work slowly when the material asks for it. I use hand tools, skilled craft, and judicious repair to preserve what a faster method might erase.
Process Fragments

material reverence
I don’t value old materials simply because they are old. I value the labor, history, scarcity, and visible evidence of time they carry. My work is to know what deserves to remain—and how to let it remain honestly.
about
Jamie Ramirez
I’m a Los Angeles designer, builder, carpenter, and historic-home restoration practitioner. My work brings together preservation, color, sourcing, building history, material science, hand craft, and a lifelong fascination with how spaces shape the lives within them.
I can restore closely to a period precedent or adapt an old house for contemporary life. The question I ask is not “how do I make this new?” but “what is already here, what is worth keeping, and what does this house need next?”
I’m available for select residential projects.
